Our
Story

Please take some time to read through our story. It has been a wild ride and we are blessed to be in the position we are today. Your support is appreciated beyond belief and we would like to share with you where it all began.

Get to Know Us

Child’s Life Foundation Uganda was founded by Webisa Emma Dan, also known as Emmavile Danz. His passion and commitment to transforming the lives of disadvantaged children drive the organization’s efforts every day.

Our current projects focus on creating safe spaces where orphans and abandoned children can find refuge.

We are actively raising funds to build a dedicated home for these children and to supply clean, safe drinking water elements vital for their health and well-being.

The inspiration behind our work is born from the stories of children who have faced unimaginable hardships.

Many wake up each day with empty stomachs, unable to afford school fees, or are forced to live on the streets because they have nowhere else to turn.

These are children who deserve a chance at life, a chance to dream and grow without fear.

About Us.

What We Do

  • Reunite children with their families through counseling and community support

  • Prevent family separation before it happens

  • Provide safe shelter, education, nutritious food, healthcare, and unconditional love when reunification isn’t possible

Many children in our care live in peaceful rural communities, where they attend school, help with farming, and grow up in nurturing environments that give them a chance to thrive.

Why Your Support Matters

Child’s Life Foundation Uganda is more than just an organization it’s a testament to the power of compassion.

It all started with one woman’s kindness and two children’s hope for a better life. Today, your support helps us:

  • Feed and educate vulnerable children

  • Offer safe homes and caring environments

  • Break the cycle of neglect, abandonment, and street life

  • Build a future rooted in dignity, family, and hope

Our story begins with one woman’s unwavering compassion and resilience Madam Nafuna Mary. In the early 1990s, Nafuna faced profound hardships. She lost her husband and endured the pain of being mistreated by her community simply because she couldn’t have children. Despite her struggles, she held onto hope and returned to her hometown of Mbale City, seeking peace and a new purpose.

Her life took a transformative turn on December 5, 1992. While walking the streets, she encountered two critically malnourished children a young girl carrying a baby on her back. Moved by their suffering, Nafuna took them into her home. She fed them, comforted them, and in that moment, her life changed forever. The girl disappeared without a trace, but the baby stayed. Nafuna named him "Webisa Emma Dan" and raised him as her own, offering him the love and security he had been denied.

Over the years, Nafuna’s unwavering care extended to another child, Ojema Emma, who was left in her care and never reclaimed. Despite living in poverty and facing many hardships, Nafuna provided her children with what every child deserves safety, love, and a sense of belonging.

In March 2010, Webisa and Ojema witnessed a tragic landslide in the Bududa District that devastated their community, leaving countless children orphaned and homeless. Inspired by Nafuna’s example of compassion, they vowed to make a difference. Their commitment grew into a movement one that would change lives.
